A First Birthday Experience – Wild ONE

It’s a special time when your “baby” is turning one. You’re filled with such a mix of emotions. You feel sad, happy, anxious, excited, just to name a few. That first birthday is a rollercoaster. If you’re like me, you’ve agonized over a theme, ordered coordinating supplies, sent out invitations to family, and ordered a cake.

My baby, the final piece to our family puzzle, just turned one. His first birthday was themed after a childhood book, a family favorite, “Where The Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. The phrase “I could eat you up, I love you so” is the perfect summary of a parent’s feelings towards their children.

There are so many different themes you can do for a first birthday!

  • “Mr/Mrs. ONE-derful” A play on dapper, black-tie type events. Doll them up and add an upscale color theme of black, white, and gold.
  • “The Big ONE” A fishing-themed birthday with your child front and center as the prize catch.
  • “Hole in ONE” A golf (traditional or miniature) theme that suits some more “serious” babes to a tee. (Pun intended!)
  • “ONE in a Melon” How could you pass up something like this?! A watermelon theme with some serious potential!
  • “Sweet ONE” Candyshop inspired birthday theme. Cupcakes, Cookies, Candies, and more!

These are just a few examples of fun theme ideas. You can get lost in the rabbit hole that is Pinterest and it comes up with so many more! Your little one will only turn one once. Say that 5 times fast! Make it memorable. Don’t let anyone say “they won’t remember it”, because they’re right… they won’t. YOU will, and you will have these photos to show them as the years pass by.
