Top 6 Recommended Local Swim Lessons

Did you know that The Florida Department of Health says that our state has the most child drowning deaths than anywhere else in the country? Personally, I think that one child’s death by drowning is one too many. That’s why I put my children in swim lessons from a very young age (we’re talking they were still infants).

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a child should be learning how to swim by or around their first birthday. With Florida being a peninsula, water is literally everywhere.

As your Clearwater Family Photographer, I work around a lot of kids, and water sources. It’s part of the reason I became lifeguard certified.

Top 5 Recommended Local Swim Lessons

I took a poll in a local moms group on Facebook to see who they recommended for swim lessons and these are the results.

First, in the top spot with the most recommendations is:
Seal Swim School
Now, I must admit that I may have a little bit of bias because that’s where my children went as well.

They are a family-owned business and have been in operation for over 35 years. This company offers 4-week and 6-week sessions from April through September.
With locations in:

  • North Pinellas – Tarpon Springs
  • West Pasco – New Port Richey
  • Lutz
  • South Tampa
  • Wesley Chapel

You’re sure to find one convenient for you.

Next up we have:
Little Inks Swimming
I couldn’t find an actual website for this company but I did find their Facebook page. From what I can gather in a quick search, they come to you. A nice convenience for sure if you’re lucky enough to have your own pool.

Continuing on, we have:
Alex’s Aqua Academy
“The best part about Alex’s Aqua Academy is that each and every lesson is a PRIVATE lesson. We have no group lessons. You will get our full attention teaching safety and independence in the water.

A lesson is 15 minutes each – 2x per week
The initial class length is 4-weeks at $190

I encourage you to do your own research and make the calls to find the one that is best for you and your little one. I found the website WaterSmartTots to be a great place to start.

A quick google search also listed these. I hope you find an instructor that fits your family’s needs. Have fun and stay safe!

To summarize, it’s our job as parents to not only protect our kids but to prepare them for danger as well. Especially, when the danger is such a key component in their environment. Make sure to check google for swim lessons in your area.
